Pokemon Episode 9 "The School of Hard Knocks"

This episode revolves around a school where instead of traveling around and fighting gym leaders for badges kids can go to school and based on their scores earn badges. The school is a pokemon school but like any other school there is bullying. A kid that got a low test score is seen being made fun of by the girl with the highest test score. Misty gets mad at this and decides to fight her. The girl sends out a rock type pokemon after misty sends out a water type pokemon. Normally this would make the girl an idiot but since the rock type pokemon gravler was at such a higher lever than the water type pokemon starmine graveler won because of its sheer advantage in level. Outraged Ash challanges the girl and sends out pikachu. The girl accepts and sends out cubone who is very strong against electrical attacks. After getting beat up ash tells pikachu to fight back however it can. Since electric attacks dont work pikachu bites and scratches at cubone and ultimatly uses cubones bonemerang attack against it. Pikachu wins the match because cubone knocked itself out because it had been disoriented and hit itself with its own attack when it was returning. This shows that pikachu has learned another great skill and i think this is what makes pikachu interesting, the fact that it gets smarter and smarter seemingly with every match.

Pokemon Episode 7 "The Waterflowers of Cerulean City"

In this episode everyone except for misty seems to be in a hurry to get to the next town. later we find out its because this is where misty is from and the rest of her friends dont know shes a gym leader as well yet.  When they get there ash realizes that misty isnt following them around anymore and he isnt exactly bothered by it so he heads to the gym to get his next badge. The 3 sisters there decide just to give him the badge because they dont like fighting but misty shows up when ash said it isnt right to just take it and ash find out misty is the youngest daughter.  Ash fights misty for the badge but pikachu wont fight for ash because pikachu likes misty as well. This is unfortunate because electric type pokemon have a huge advantage over water type pokemon. I dont think it was right for pikachu to not fight because pikachu is ash's pokemon so he should fight if ash asks him too. Even though pikachu decided not to fight ash still won but i think it would have been a lot easier for ash to win if pikachu had fought. Team rocket tries to suck up all the pokemon but ash beats them, and saves all the water pokemon which earns him his badge. Even though thats how he got his badge im confident if he had used pikachu to fight misty to begin with the battle would have been over way before team rocket showed up but because its a show and they need to fit the entire 30 minutes in they added that little segment.

Pokemon Episode 6 "Clefairy and the Moonstone"

In the beggining of this episode Ash, Misty, Brock and pikachu find a man being attacked by zubats so ash has pikachu use thunderbolt.  We find out that the scientest's name is seemore but more importantly this episode revolves around the idea that these clafairy came from space and that they have been stealing items all over town to make a space ship. The clefairy steal pikachu later in the episode and stick him in a glass jar with a bunch of gizmos on it.  We find out later the the clefairy plan to use pikachu as a "Battery" to power their ship when in goes into space. To make pikachu use thunder attacks a little toy hammer comes down and bonks pikachu on the nose. I thought that was the funniest part of the whole episode... maybe its because im 17? Who knows but the moral of the story is that pikachu being an electric pokemon was used as a battery.  This however is not the first time we've seen pikachu being used as a battery.  In the episode where team rocket tries to steal pokemon from the pokemon center all those pikachu are doing is running around in circles creating power, serving as a backup generator. Using pokemon like this may seem unethical but i believe it is a great idea to use the natural recorces around you to creat a better working systeme... especially if it doesnt come out of your electric bill.

Pikachu's type and and Ash's personality

Lightning can be summed up as quick, decisive, and hasty. Like in our world lightning is there and gone in a flash and we all know the devastating effects it can have if it hits. Lightning pokemon tend to be very quick and are usually quick to attack. Ash’s first Pokémon was Pikachu the electric rodent Pokémon. Pikachu isn’t afraid to show what its feeling and Ash isn’t afraid to say what he’s thinking which usually gets them both into trouble. Both Pikachu and Ash are always happy to be going going going on there travel, never stopping in one place to much. Both make hasty decisions and they are typically lost in some woods, to the dismay of the calm Brock and bubbly Misty. Like lightning flashing in the night sky, Ash has a very striking personality that you always notice whenever anyone meets him. Lightning is the type of hasty, striking, and quickness.

Pokemon Episode 5 "Showdown in Pewter City"

The episode begins with ash, misty, and pikachu walking into pewter city when an old man tries to sell them rocks as souvaniers which is pretty sketchy in my opinion.  But regardless Ash takes pikachu to the pokem gym to challange the gym master whose name is Brock.  Brock is a rock pokemon trainer but since ash is a new trainer he doesnt know a whole lot about pokemon advantages and disadvantages.  Brock sends out his onyx while ash sends out pikachu.  Now onyx is a big pokemon and pikachu is a small pokemon so its understandable that pikachu was scared.  Not only was pikachu scared but he was at a disadvantage because hes a electric pokemon while onyx is a rock.  Of course pikachu gets beaten and Misty and Brock give ash an earful.  I dont think anyone with common sence would have givin pikachu a chance to fight because it hasnt had much experiance fighting and its at a huge disadvantage but obviously Ash isnt that smart.  So Ash gets some help super powering pikachu from the sketchy dude that tried to sell them rocks and they return to the gym to fight Brock again.  This time Pikachu, being powered up, defeats not only Onyx but Geodude both of which are rock pokemon. Turns out the sketchy rock dude was Brocks dad who ends up taking over the gym while Brock travels with Misty and Ash in hopes of becoming a Pokemon Breeder.

Pikachu and the Pokemon Cards

With many cartoon shows including little beasts, trading cards soon came out.  Of course pikachu was one of the first cards made and i was excited at first about it. Then after a while more and more pokemon cards came out establishing the first and original 150 pokemon. Then they started making holographics and I was still happy with it, especially when my friends traded me a holographic pikachu for a non holographic charizard. Then they went a step farther by making dark pokemon and I knew that it was getting out of hand. The creators of the pokemon cards took it to yet another step creating Team Rocket pokemon cards. There were now 4 different kinds of pikachu cards and they ended up making another design for the original pikachu so there were 4 main types and a remake. I remeber looking at my cards and just losing hope.  When they first had just the 150 pokemon i was excited to collect them all then they just started making more and more variations of them.  Nowadays there are about 4 generations of pokemon and Im glad I gave up at such a young age.

Episode Three "Ash Catches a Pokemon"

The episode starts in a different way this time surprising me.  Ash is in a stance of strength and we see him jump up, very much so dramatized, and throw a pokeball at the bug/worm pokemon caterpie.  Ash succesfully catches his first pokemon and is enthralled by his accomplishment. Misty the water pokemon trainer, is quite the opposite because she has a fear of bug type pokemon. I think this is a common stereotype the guys are into bugs and such while girls arent so much. As a kid i thought that was just common sence but now i can look back at it and really analyze the real life stereotypes and scenerios that are put into the show. Back to the episode Ash is overjoyed, and caterpie seems to like misty as well. When they wake up the next morning and caterpie is sleeping next to misty I still found it funny when she screamed as loud as she could waking the rest of her companions. Caterpie is hurt because Misty rejected him and hurt his feelings and Ash's encouragment was to no aid. This is another scenereo that we find in the real world. When guys are rejected by girls normally they feel a little down at first but there guy friends usually are there to pick them up and give them the encouragment that its not the end of the world and that there are people who like him. Ash is later faced with a pidgeotto the evolved form of pidgy and sends out caterpie to fight it.  Even as a young kid i remember going what the heck caterpie is a worm and birds eat worms.  Every kid knew this but it seems that ash did not. Caterpie runs away but pikachu defeats pidgeotto so ash still manages to catch the pidgeotto. Misty chews out ash about strategy but is interupted when that catchy tune of team rockets starts playing and thats when i knew that Jessy, James and Meowth were there to capture pikachu.  Ash sends out pidgeotto but it is weak from the battle before it was captured and cant fight so he asks caterpie to fight. Caterpie decides to fight but is double teamed by the trios pokemon Koffing a gas type pokemon and Ekans a snake type pokemon. Caterpie wraps them up in a string shot then tackles them away when they laugh at him. I thought to myself, "Wow i find this unlikely".
